Evidence suggests that people with disabilities face barriers when accessing the health and rehabilitation services required. Insights on the healthcare outcomes of people with disabilities lead to early detection of diseases and this improves the recovery rate. At TALI, we are discovering ways to improve the healthcare outcomes of persons living with disabilities, as universal health coverage for all remains our goal for persons with disabilities.
TALI aims to work with health institutions to provide solutions and promote inclusivity for persons living with disabilities.

In Nigeria, disability is majorly limited to physical impairments while learning disabilities are misunderstood. Diagnosing learning impairments provides the opportunity to give a child the right form of education. Lack of understanding of a child’s learning disability often leads to discrimination, isolation of the child from its community, and neglect in many cases. TALI’s goal is to ease this burden by educating people and ensuring proper diagnosis of learning disabilities in various communities. TALI will work in these communities to provide solutions for the effective management of such disabilities.

The design and construction of housing impact the quality of life and independence of a population, particularly the vulnerable. Although Nigerian president Mohammed Buhari has passed a bill, on the modifications of government institutions and structures to ease living for persons with disabilities, there has been very little done to actualize this agenda. TALI aims to bridge this gap by advocating and implementing research-based home modifications for residential buildings, private and government-owned properties.

People living with disabilities are more likely to experience targeted violence and hostility. The most common perpetrators are teenagers and neighbors but they may also be strangers, colleagues, friends, partners, or family members. TALI aims to promote disability equity, raise awareness and end unlawful harassment and victimization of persons with disabilities.

The Mental Well-being of persons living with disabilities is often an ignored aspect of health. Research shows that this ignorance is fueled by a lack of knowledge, disbelief, and traditional ideologies. TALI aims to shed more light on the importance of taking care of our mental health by educating communities and advocating for persons with disabilities who are struggling with their mental health.
